Argonne Scientist Receives Award for Contributions in Intelligent Transportation Systems
On February 6, 2004, the Intelligent Transportation Society of the Midwest (ITS Midwest) held its annual meeting in Schaumburg,
Illinois, with the theme "Transportation Safety and Security." The meeting included a Service Award ceremony,
recognizing the contributions of Dr. Adrian Tentner from Argonne National Laboratory. Dr. Tentner is one
of the founders of the Society and served as the first President for seven
years, while directing Argonne's intelligent transportation systems program. He helped foster many ITS-related activities
in the Gary-Chicago-Milwaukee area and nationally and led the successful ITS Midwest effort to bring the ITS World Congress
to Chicago in 2002. (More...)
SAE Award for Excellence in Oral Presentation
Christopher Powell of Argonne National Laboratory's Center for Transportation Research (CTR) recently received a Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) Award for Excellence in Oral Presentation for his talk on the effects of injector nozzle geometry on diesel fuel sprays at the June 2004 SAE Fuels and Lubricants Meeting and Exhibition in Toulouse, France. ASME Award for Best Presentation
Stephen Ciatti of Argonne National Laboratory received an award from the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) for having given the best presentation at the 24th Conseil International des Machines a Combustion (CIMAC)/ASME World Congress on Combustion Engine Technology, in Kyoto, Japan, in June 2004. DOE’s Advanced Powertrain Research Facility is Now Hydrogen-Capable
Officials at Argonne National Laboratory have announced the completion of hydrogen fuel and test equipment upgrades to the Laboratory’s Advanced Powertrain Research Facility (APRF). The upgrades will enable the APRF to test hydrogen-powered fuel cell engine technologies as well as technologies for internal combustion engines powered by hydrogen. The APRF is the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE’s) principal research facility for assessing advanced and hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) technologies for DOE’s FreedomCAR and Vehicle Technologies Program. Argonne Researchers to Be Honored for "Best" Paper at an ASME Conference
On October 26, 2004, mechanical engineer Stephen Ciatti will receive an award from the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) for having given the best presentation at the 24th Conseil International des Machines a Combustion (CIMAC)/ASME World Congress on Combustion Engine Technology, in Kyoto, Japan, last June. The award ceremony will be held as a part of the banquet program at the ASME Internal Combustion Engine Division's 2004 Fall Technical Conference, in Long Beach, California. (More...)
