Argonne is Full of Energy (Research)
 |
Khalil Amine |
Argonne is among the most influential places in the world when it comes to energy, fuel and battery research.
According to ScienceWatch, an online newsletter tracking trends and performance in basic research, Argonne produces some of the most cited and influential scientific papers in the field.
With energy at the forefront of economic and political discussions, ScienceWatch recently identified the most cited research sources by evaluating the “Energy & Fuels” category in Thomson Reuters’ Science Citation Index. The rankings are based on 94 specialty journals in this topic area that produced about 100,000 papers indexed between 1998 and 2008.
The article ranks Argonne 13th in the world in terms of citations, with a total of 2,438. Argonne ranks sixth in the world in citation impact, or citations per paper.
Khalil Amine, Argonne senior scientist and manager of the Advanced Battery Technology Group, ranks 11th on the list of most cited authors, with 41 papers that have been cited 773 times. His group has produced the most cited work in the battery field over the last decade.
“These rankings show that Argonne’s work on new renewable energy is highly valued by the international community,” Amine said.
